Lightning Arresters
A lightning arrester was a vital component of any home radio antenna setup. The arrester provided a path to ground for excess electric currents should the antenna should be struck by lightning. This served to protect the radio equipment from surge damage, as well as the house. Some of the companies that produced radio antenna insulators, also produced lightning arresters. Some were made of glass, while most were made of porcelain.
