Insulator Hunting / Photo Trips 2007

Nothing to report for 2007 yet! I have been in contact with a nearby antique shop about some insulators the owner bottle along with a bottle collection. Nothing has come of that yet.

Update on the previously mentioned insulators. I was able to buy two pieces from the shop owner. One was a CD 388 L'Electro Verre power piece from France, and the second was a really nice green CD 162 McGlaughlin piece. The exact colour of it has yet to be determined.

The CD 388 was sold through ICON to a collector in Arizona. He is quite happy with his new acquisition.

My bad knee still bothers me if I exert myself much, walk on rough ground, or bend and twist it too much. This is putting a major crimp in my insulator hunting.

As always, I am constantly on the lookup for interesting insulators on eBay, and have bought quite a few from all over the world to add to my collection.

A local bottle collector that I have known for a while was downsizing his tremndous collection (of seemingly everything) to move from his large home to his small cottage (camp for people in Northern Ontario) on a permanent basis. He contacted me about buying the insulator portion of his collection. In March, I bought about 500 insulators from him. Many were clear or straw CD 154 and 155 Dominion-42s. There were about 250 clear CD 128 and CD 129 in various embossings. Lots of pieces had damage on them. I picked over the group, kept a few for my collection, sold some, and took most of the 128s and 129s to the dump.

Since then, the same fellow uncovered even more insulators in his house and garage. I bought another small batch from him which included two CD 154 Dominion-42 in dark red amber. At an auction to sell off the rest of his stuff in October, I bought another group of insulators which included two more amber 154s.
