Remember Anne

Andrew Grant

Silent faces all standing in line,
Crying tears, they fall after time.
I can only watch you lying there,
Childrens faces don't hide their despair.
I never thought this could happen to me,
How you've left me alone endlessly.
I pray everynight that you will return,
But they haven't been answered, this I have learned.
As we talk about the life you have led,
I start to think about the things that you said.
At the time they were nothing but words,
But now I hear them calling out from songbirds.
We leave slowly as we lay you to rest,
I'm glad to know the ones that you touched best.
The childrens faces don't hide their despair,
I can only watch you lying there.
Ever since that day I felt that something had gone,
But in my soul I feel that you will live on.
The love you left behind will not fade away,
It can only get stronger day after day.
In my mind I imagine you standing with me,
Guiding and caressing me through difficulties.
On silent nights if I feel all alone,
I can always see you if I visit your stone.
