Missing a loved one (whilst dreaming of distant destinations)
Daniel Parker
How can I not compare thee to a summer's day?
The sweet fragrance of petals,
Black hair awash with sun light reflected
The mysteries of a raven
Open as a daisy
Yet shadowed by summer clouds
The flavoured delights of your solemn kisses,
Keep me awake like the new born child.
For I am as green as the sky is blue,
When engulfed in your sweet delights.
Your arms are welcoming to me
As water is to the exhausted traveller,
Seen the many hills and valleys,
But now its time for the rest the calm and Champaign
To me you are as familiar as the smells of summer
Freshly cut grass and barbecued suppers,
Readily distanced like no other,
Like my reflection in the water,
Rippled by a stone.
