Surrealistic Poem
By Nancy Girdner
Sateen drapes no more from the flesh
Released to depths beneath the shadows.
Eyes sealed, a rhythmic river runs fast
Destined for a translucent bay
So inviting.
Hot erotic shapes unfold
Enticing, tempting -- mind and soul.
Sweet fragrances surge upward
Sultrily, steadily, entwining with warmth
Enveloping all that’s near.
Essence of Opium seeps to penetrate
Controlling the senses
Overwhelming the image.
Languidly concealing, transcending sensation
Captivating the soul
A staggering desire.
Reluctance diminished -- alluring -- descending
Mesmerized by the moment, exposed
And free.
Candles flicker, images wave into a world so serene
Song in the distance … Ravi Shankar at his
Barbarian finest.
Floods of Opium, now grabbing the heart
Silky hands stretch out
To caress the soul.
Marshmallow pillows, creamy and white
Floating on wings trickling into a world
Of oblivion
