Sea Breeze
By Judy Stacy
Perched upon a rock, I tilt my head,
this way and that.
just so I won't miss what the sea breeze
is telling me.
You have to listen closely, to hear what
she has to say.
She may tell you, not a thing or she
just might tell you to listen, for I have
a tale to tell you.
Be still my child, for I have news of
great importance, to whisper in your
ear. Come closer, and I will tell you
news of long ago, when you were
just a molecule, floating here and there.
Long ago the trees grew near the shore
and animals were as big as a tree.
Then came a great strom, and blew
it all way, except for you.
Its up to you, now, she whispered
in my ear. T o carry on to make
more and then pass it on.
Sometimes, she tells me tales, of
love and war.
Sometimes, she tells me, nothing
more.
She says, come closer, and let
me tell you more.
I sit, perched, upon a rock
waiting for her to tell me more.
