Kitmat B.C. Jobs Announcement

A recent "Power for Jobs" accord between Alcan and the Province of British Columbia indicated that thousands of new jobs were being created.

However, at the present time NO JOBS ARE AVAILABLE!

While the accord will create jobs, it will be some time before any jobs are available. The accord has allowed Alcan to return to full production in the present plant capacity. There were no new hires, and some down-sizing continues to occur due to technological change.

Alcan announced that a steering group has been appointed that will investigate the economics of plant expansion. The study is expected to take 15 months or longer. After the study, and depending upon its outcome, there will be a period of planning before any decisions on hiring will be made.
