Estimated Hourly Wage Rates 1997 - Sudbury and Espanola Human Resource Centres

Geographical Area of Coverage

Sudbury and Espanola HRCC Management Area

Introduction

The Estimated Wage Rate Report 1997 has been compiled from information received from our local employer community via a survey; from data reported on Records of Employment received by our office; and from information recorded form our Job Opportunity Surveys, which is a listing of job vacancies from the Sudbury and Manitoulin Human Resource Centres and the local area newspapers.

To make the information contained in this document more meaningful, the following enhancements have been made:

  • yearly salaries were converted to hourly rates by using a 2080 hours per year divisor
  • both low and high wage rates are recorded
  • the term "median" refers to the middle hourly rate reported (e.g. If one employer reported paying a bookkeeper $8.00/hr, one employer reported paying a bookkeeper $12.00/hr, and one employer reported paying a bookkeeper $9.00/hr, then th "median" would be $9.00/hr.)
  • a section for part-time wage rates has been added for both Sudbury and Espanlola
  • for the purpose of this report, part-time employment is defined as less than 30 hours per week
  • incomplete questionnaires were not used in th data compilation

Note: Sample sizes vary and are limited by the information provided to our office. Given the limitations of any survey, the information contained herein should be used as a guideline only.
