Louis now 61 was born and raised in Sudbury where he attended Sacred Heart College, Laurentian University (BA) and the University of Windsor (B. Comm.). He worked for a firm of Chartered Accountants in Ottawa prior to teaching accounting courses at Algonquin College and at Cambrian College. He now manages real estate properties, is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the Sudbury Uptown CAN, a board member of the Friends of the Museum of the Flour Mill and a former board member or the Sudbury Arts Council. His interest in and involvement with politics through the Progressive Conservative party dates back many years. In 2001, he was appointed to the Sudbury Early Years Steering Committee by provincial cabinet minister John Baird.

We need to build a new economic foundation for the North. Jobs have been diminishing in Sudbury's mining sector and jobs have been disappearing in the forestry area. "We have the potential to considerably grow Tourism in the North, if we apply the right dynamics. This will create new opportunities for small businesses and new entrepreneurs. We can discover products that could be manufactured here ensuring many new permanent jobs in the process."
