Comments:
Joseph Haskins (1745-1823) is possibly related to Abial (Abiel, Abiah) Haskins (? - ca 1792). They could be brothers? There are similarities in family naming patterns and they both came to the same region of Upper Canada about the same time.

an excerpt from page 4 of:
"Joseph Haskins 1745-1823, Pioneer of Wolford Township...August 1990" Author: Alice Hughes

"In his Will dated February 23, 1823 Joseph Haskins Sr. of Wolford stated that "whereas my Father Nicholas Haskins deceased was entitled to lands in this Province and as I am, I believe the proper heir at law of any lands he might be possessed of or entitled to at his death or decease and when a proper investigation is made and I should be found to be the proper heir at law in such case I give and bequeath to my son Joseph all and every such parcel, Tract or Tracts of land that I may be found to be the Proper heir to. To be confirmed to his heirs and assigns forever." This excerpt from Joseph Haskins' Will is interesting for two reasons. First it gives his father's name, Nicholas. Secondly, it tells us Nicholas was entitled to lands in Ontario.

A Map of Augusta Township (PAC MG 7 D4 Reel 308 p.317) entitled Map A, Surveyed by Edward Jessup and Jeremiah McCarthy, with the proprietors names 1785, 1787, shows the following HASKINS names:
Lot 13, Concession IV Abiel & Nicholas Haskins
Lot 13, Concession VI Abiah Laskins
Lot 23, Concession VI Abiah Laskins
Lot 27, (Part) Concession VI Abiah Laskins
Lot 31, SW 1/4, Concession VII Nich's Haskins
Lot 16, Concession VIII Abiah Laskins
Lot 3, Concession VIII Nicholas Askins
It would seem that the Nicholas Askins located on Lot 31 SW1/4, Concession VII and the one on Lot 3, Concession VIII are the same Nicholas and the father of Joseph Haskins Sr. of Wolford for these two lots are bequeathed by Joseph Haskins Junior in 1852. The wheels of Land Boards moved slowly in this instance, but it must have been found that these two lots really should have been received by Nicholas, and then his son Joseph for on October 29, 1845 Joseph Askins Jr., was granted the Patent from the Crown for Lot 3, concession VIII, 200 acres, all and for the South-west quarter of Lot 31, concession VII, 50 acres, all, both in the Township of Augusta."
