A number of new 'cousins' have found each other and furthered their ancestral line (I have been advised through the help of the Kelly Kanadian Kin site). They were also, apparently, surprised to find out that their Kelly orgins were Scottish/English rather than Irish, and that they came to Upper Canada at the same time as the UEL (United Empire Loyalists) after the American Revolution.

Right! now ask me if I'm confused! This is the first Kelley-Kelly family that I have felt compelled to allocate to their own page. I was prompted to do this, after receiving a Kelly enquiry to which I responded that I had no information on the name involved, Adelia Kelly (she was born in 1911 therefore I would have no info on her) - then an hour later realized while working on the tables, that the name had run through one of the posted families for a couple of generations more than a hundred years earlier. I forwarded the message to Nancy, one of the family researchers asking her if the name and locale were familiar to her. Sure enough, she responded - they had connected with another 'cousin' - and I am sure another researcher was glad to finally find out who his great-grandparents were (never mind great-grand; he must have been shocked to see that he can now go back to the 1700's instead of just 1911).

This family consists of 7 generations, the first immigrant, John Kelley left England for the USA with at least 2 sons who moved on up to Ontario and raised their families. This lengthy line has been traced back to its origins, but may have additional tables added as others stumble onto their ancestry laid out before them! (so far this ancestral page consists of 10 tables - as of 16 Jun 00).

I find it a pleasure to be able to be of assistance in helping folks further their family research and to hear of their successes - goodness knows that I haven't had much luck in finding the Irish origins of my own great-grandparents Daniel Kelley and Maria Fleming of Wolford Twp, Grenville Co.
