History Of This Site

This site sprang up as my humble protest of the photo radar program that began in Ontario. Since then, the provincially operated photo radar program was dumped due to a new government taking power. The site grew from one page to what you see before you now to inform not only Ontarian's but all Canadians of the dangers of photo radar. In the Future I'd like to expand the site to include at least some information on most countries that are using photo radar.

The Point Of This Site

This site is NOT a political one. It is here to provide information to people on the topic of photo radar and let you decide whether its a good idea or not.. To help balance out the page, I have actively solicited comments from police agencies, government and manufacturers to share their thoughts as well. Unfortunately, they have declined or ignored my requests.

What's new?

The site is broken down into a couple of areas, so you can check out the particular areas of interest to yourself. Or you can click on the first sign and go all the way through. In addition I have included a feedback forum, so you can share your comments or observations about photo radar, or the page and check out what others have to say. Also I have further broken down The coverage between Alberta and B.C. There is now a ton of information on the new B.C. program here and a surprise or two, and you thought only the media would be able to get a scoop!

Good News

Surprisingly, this page not only has been viewed by people across Canada but additionally the U.S. , Australia, Japan and Europe as well. Welcome to all, although this site is primarily focused on Canada, I'm sure you will find some useful information here if your from out of town..so to speak. I'd especially like to thank the Victoria Police (Australia) for contacting me and providing a counter point to this page and the use of some photos as well.

..Now the Bad News

As I had predicted flashbulbs have not been entirely turned off in this province yet. Although the government killed the program with the provincial police, they left the law that made it possible in place. Unfortunately, as communities are feeling the pinch of reduced revenues, many cities are openly talking about introducing photo radar in their communities. These facts pretty much prove that money, not safety is the driving force behind photo radar. In addition Quebec is now actively looking for photo radar units. Expect a program to begin there in the very near future. It may not be the unity issue I've personally been waiting for, but I suppose its a start! :-)
