of Wales cherishes its history
Welsh immigrants in the mid-1800s fell in love
with the rolling hills, fertile soil and wooded horizons they discovered
in a small section of Waukesha County. So they quickly named it after their
homeland and claimed it for their own.

St. David's Welsh-American Society of Baltimore
If you're interested in Wales or are of Welsh heritage
and you live in the Baltimore area, you should know that there is a local
organization you can join to learn more about Wales and celebrate your
Welsh heritage. That place is the St David's Welsh-American Society of
Baltimore. Our current membership represents a wide range of knowledge
and experience covering all aspects of Welsh culture and history, a heritage
we are proud to share with others.
- Cymdeithas Madog, the Welsh Studies Institute of North America
is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization dedicated to helping North
Americans learn, use and enjoy the Welsh language. It takes its name from
Madog ab Owain Gwynedd, a Welsh prince who sailed (according tolegend)
to America in the 12th century. That makes him a fitting symbol of the
cultural and linguistic links which Cymdeithas Madog maintains between
Wales and the New World.

Venedocia was first settled around 1848 and was
incorporated in 1897 by immigrants from Wales. You can read several documents
about Venedocia's history and the "rapacious beasts" that once
lived around here. Some current residents still remember when the Welsh
language was spoken in village homes and businesses

NINNAU means "us" or "we also"
and is pronounced "nin-eye." A monthly publication, Ninnau answers
the need for a stronger link between the many Welsh communities of North
America and their ties to Wales and the Welsh community. Ninnau is a unique
publication successfully blending information and essays covering Welsh
culture, history, language, sports, genealogy, politics, the computer revolution,
and Welsh-related events in North America, to create an informative and
entertaining newspaper that is a must for anyone interested in Wales.

back to 1908 when the first Welsh Society, "The Cymrodorion Society"
was formed in Vancouver by Welsh immigrants and their descendants.
