A SELECTION OF VOLODIMIR BARABASH'S APHORISMS The following are but a small sample of the over 500 aphorisms written by Volodimir Barabash during his life time. Friendship,
like love, is independent of time and space and we should never try,
like a child, to pull it up by the roots to see if it is still growing. Beauty
is as imperative as truth - and just as merciless in its demands and
you must be as faithful to on as to the other, if you would serve the
highest. As
the sun is the bright ruler of the physical world so is truth the
supreme master in the moral and spiritual universe. All other virtues
flow from it and are dependent upon it. Every artist and every author have a sacred duty entrusted to them by the Muse - to serve beauty and truth. Trees
are the darlings of the earth, beloved by man and bird and beast and
are nature's favourite children. Alive, they serve man well with beauty
and shade and when they die they will still serve him with warmth and
usefulness. And finally, when he dies, they frame in his shroud and
follow him to his grave. If
truth in men's life is as the brilliant sun is to this earth, then
faith must always be for him as the North Star - to guide his footsteps
aright. No mortal being could possibly live the life of an "open book". Only the angels can afford to have no secrets. The sun gives life and light to man, the earth sustains him, but for beauty he must look up to the stars. No experience is ever lost. Even the minutest microcosm is marked upon the universal scroll. Of all the virtues the hardest to cultivate is humility. Because of that it is wisdom's most beautiful flower.
