ODE TO THE UKRAINE: A PROPHECY

From ashes of forgotten centuries
Like Phoenix bird, we see the rise again.
And Flourishing throughout the future years
  O glorious and beautiful Ukraine

Cruelly held beneath the Russian heel.
Deprived of human rights and liberty.
Within our very hears we strongly feel
  The transformation of your destiny.

Although the man-made evil holds its sway,
We all must strive to reach our final goal.
No human power on this Earth can stay
The inner will of the national soul.

Go read the annals of world's history,
Where much less cruel powers in the past
Fell from the blows of righteous victory.
The end to Moscow's rule must come to last.

Faith of our Fathers shall, at last, prevail.
Beyond man's reach: behind the dim unknown,
Almighty God abides, Who cannot fail
In keeping watch above His very own.

We, Too, must have strong faith to truth adhere.
Work hard, so we may freedom's cause enhance.
Help to create ideal atmosphere
  That would ensure Ukraine's deliverance.
