Deputy Tempe Crabtree is working at a Native American Pow Wow when a young girl who is up for the title of Princess is murdered. This time Tempe gets to help investigate the murder. Tempe is part Yanduchi Indian and her husband Hutch is a Preacher. He has trouble with Tempe working this case...the further she gets into investigating the murder of the young girl..the more she finds herself more and more interested in learning her heritage. Very good book. This is the 2nd book in the series.

Deputy Tempe Crabtree is investigating a missing child that has vanished from the campground. They find the child's body a few days later, and Tempe is on the job to find the killer. Tempe gets invited by the Shaman of the Yanduchi reservation for a traditional ceremony. Hutch (Tempe's husband and Preacher) objects to Tempe using "spirits" to help with a murder investigation. Tempe is curious and aggress to go anyhow. After the ceremony..Tempe knows who killed the child and is on the job. Working this case has made Tempe's and Hutch's marriage very strained. Tempe finds herself more and more immeresed in her heritage. Very good book. This is the last book in the series.
